Leslie Sandefur – Vocal Instructor

Beginning to advanced Classical and Opera, Gospel, R&B, Pop and Rock.

Ms. Sandefur’s rich and full lyric soprano voice has enchanted audiences throughout the United States and Italy. She began her vocal studies singing gospel music and then went on to receive her Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Nevada. She attended the prestigious, New England Conservatory of Music in Boston for graduate study and received her Master of Music degree from California State University, Sacramento. She sang her first operatic role at 18 and began her professional singing career at 19, singing in local concerts and with the Nevada Opera. She has performed with many local opera companies including with Berkeley Opera, Sacramento Opera, Opera San Jose, Pocket Opera, and the Lamplighters of San Francisco, to name a few. She has also sung with the San Francisco Opera chorus and was a finalist in their Merola auditions. She has also performed at the Stern Grove Festival and Carnegie Hall. She is also the recipient of numerous awards including the Leontyne Price National Vocal Arts Award. Ms. Sandefur has been teaching voice for ten years.

Ms. Sandefur’s focus is on vocal projection and increasing range. While using many classical vocal exercises, the student will learn breath control and the correct vowel placement that will enable them to develop an attractive and powerful voice that works for all styles of singing.
